Interactions: | AmitriptylineAdverse Effect: hypertension, cardiac arrhythmias, and tachycardiaClinical Management: The vasoconstriction and other alpha-adrenergic effects of Noradrenaline is substantially enhanced in the presence of Amitriptyline.Concomitant use should be avoided. If these drugs are given together, careful monitoring and a dose reduction of the sympathomimetic is required.
Bupivacaine Comb.Adverse Effect: decreased Noradrenaline effectivenessClinical Management: If concurrent therapy is required, a dosage adjustment for Noradrenaline may be required in order to maintain or achieve a therapeutic effect. Monitor blood pressure.
Cetirizine + Phenylpropanolamine + Paracetamol Comb.Adverse Effect: hypertensive crisis (headache, hyperpyrexia, hypertension)Clinical Management: Although Noradrenaline may not cause a severe reaction, monitor closely with concurrent use. Monitor blood pressure and ask the patient about frequent headaches or palpitations as these symptoms may be prodromes of a hypertensive crisis. If a hypertensive crisis occurs, discontinue the MAOI and institute therapy to lower blood pressure (5 mg of phentolamine intravenously given slowly).
ChlorpromazineAdverse Effect: Concomitant administration antagonizes the peripheral vasoconstrictive effects and decreases the pressor effectClinical Management: Monitor the therapeutic effects and adjust dose accordingly.
ClomipramineAdverse Effect: hypertension, cardiac arrhythmias, and tachycardiaClinical Management: The vasoconstriction and other alpha-adrenergic effects of Noradrenaline are substantially enhanced in the presence of Clomipramine .Concomitant use should be avoided. If these drugs are given together, careful monitoring and a dose reduction of the sympathomimetic is required.
ImipramineAdverse Effect: hypertension, cardiac arrhythmias, and tachycardiaClinical Management: The vasoconstriction and other alpha-adrenergic effects of Noradrenaline is substantially enhanced in the presence of Imipramine. Concomitant use should be avoided. If these drugs are given together, careful monitoring and a dose reduction of the sympathomimetic is required.
NortriptylineAdverse Effect: hypertension, cardiac arrhythmias, and tachycardiaClinical Management: The vasoconstriction and other alpha-adrenergic effects of Noradrenaline are substantially enhanced in the presence of Nortriptyline.Concomitant use should be avoided. If these drugs are given together, careful monitoring and a dose reduction of the sympathomimetic is required.
SelegilineAdverse Effect: increased hypertensive effectsClinical Management: Monitor patients for clinical effects of acute blood pressure elevation (headache, arrhythmia, vomiting, fever). Should a hypertensive crisis develop, discontinue the drug and immediately begin medical therapy to lower blood pressure. Nitroprusside, nitroglycerin, phentolamine, and labetalol are among the drugs that have been successfully used.
TrimipramineAdverse Effect: hypertension, cardiac arrhythmias, and tachycardiaClinical Management: The vasoconstriction and other alpha-adrenergic effects of Noradrenaline is substantially enhanced in the presence of Trimipramine.Concomitant use should be avoided. If these drugs are given together, careful monitoring and a dose reduction of the sympathomimetic is required. |
