Dosages:
  • IV Infsn.:HYPOTENSION:Initial 8-12mcg/min, titrated to maintain BP. Maintenance:2-4mcg/min
  • OR Syringe pump is used to give Initial dose of 40mcg/ml at 0.19-0.33ml/min, Phentolamine 5-10mg/L added to the Infsn. May prevent sloughing upon extravasation, without compromising the vasopressor effects. Other hypotensive states are similarly managed.
  • RAPID IV/INTRACARDIAC:100mcg/L given in aliquots of 0.5-0.75ml (50-75mcg).
  • LOCAL ANAESTHETIC:Adjuvant used as 1:80,000 concentration.
  • GI BLEEDING:8mg in 250ml saline Intraperitoneally OR 8mg in 100ml saline given via Nasogastric Tube every hour for 6-8 hour, then every 2 hours for 4-6 hours.
