Antiemetics, antivertigo drugs, dimenhydrinate: May mask gentamicin-induced ototoxicity. Mon-itor child closely.
Bumetanide, ethacrynicacid, furosemide, man-nitol, urea: Potential for ototoxicity. Monitor child closely.
General anesthetics, neuromuscular blockers (such as succinylcholine, tubocurarine):May po-tentiate neuromuscular blockade. Monitor child closely.
Indomethacin: May increase serum peak and trough levels of gentamicin. Monitor gentamicin levels.
Penicillin: Administration with gentamycin results in synergistic bactericidal effect against Pseu-domonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Kebsiella, Citrobacter, Enterobacter, Serratia, and Proteus mirabilis; however, the drugs are physically and chemically incompatible and are inactivated when mixed or given together. Avoid concomitant use. |
