Drug-drug.

Allopurinol: Appears to increase risk of rash from both drugs. Monitor patient carefully.

Aminogtycoside antibiofc: Concomitant use caus-ps a synergistic bactericidal effect against some strains of enterococci and group B streptococci. Drugs are physically and chemically incompati-)le; inactivated it mixed or given together. Dont nix or give together.

Clavulanate: Results in increased bactericidal effects because clavulanic acid is betalactamase inhibitor. Used for this therapeutic purpose.

Methotrexate: Large doses of penicillins may interfere with renal tubular secretion of methotrex-ate, delaying elimination and elevating serum lev-sls of methotrexate. Monitor methotrexate levels.

Probenecid: Inhibits renal tubular secretion of ampicillin, raising its serum levels. Use as adjunct to antibiotic therapy.
