Antidepressants, antihistamines, narcotics, phenothiazines, tranquilizers, other sedativehypnotics: Potentiated CNS and respi-ratory depressant effects. Monitor child closely.
Corticosteroids, digitoxin, doxycycline, oral con-traceptives (and other estrogens), theophylline (and other xanthines): Enhanced hepatic metabolism of these drugs. Monitor child for clinical effectiveness; adjust dosage as needed.
Disulfiram, MAO inhibitors, valproic acid: De-creased metabolism of phenobarbital and increased toxicity. Monitor serum levels.
Griseofulvin: Decreased absorption from GI tract. Separate administration times by at least 2 hours.
Rifampin: Decreased phenobarbital levels due to increased hepatic metabolism. Monitor serum levels; adjust dosage as needed.
Warfarin, other oral anticoagulants: Enhanced enzymatic degradation of these drugs. Increased dosages of anticoagulant may be needed. |
