Dosages:
Hypertension
Child: 0.75 mg/kg PO qd in 4 divided doses (25 mg/m2/day); increase over 3-4 wk to 7.5 mg/kg/day. IM or IV dose is 0.4-1.2 mg/kg/day or 50-100 mg/m2/day in 4-6 divided doses. Max initial parenteral dose 20 mg.

Adult: 10 mg PO qid × 2-4 day, then increase to 25 mg qid for rest of wk. Increase to 50 mg qid prn. Max 200 mg/day, some pts may need 300-400 mg/day. For severe hypertension, 10-50 mg IM or 10-20 mg IV prn. Switch to PO treatment ASAP.

Pregnant adult: 5 mg IV, then 5-10 mg IV q 20-30 min until BP reduced (usual range, 5-20 mg).
