Antacid supplements containing alu-minum, calcium, and magnesium: May interfere with ciprofloxacin absorption. Give 2 hours before or 6 hours after ciprofloxacin.
  Aminoglycosides, beta-lactams: Synergistic ef-fects have occurred with concurrent use. Use to-gether cautiously.
  Iron, minerals, and vitamins: May interfere with ab-sorption of ciprofloxacin. Administer separately.
  Probenecid: Interferes with renal tubular secre-tion, causing higher plasma levels of ciprofloxacin. Use together cautiously.
  Sucralfate: Reduces absorption of ciprofloxacin by 50%. Monitor patient closely.
  rheophylline. May increase risk of theophylline toxicity. Monitor theophylline levels.
  Warfarin: Increased PT. Monitor PT.
  Sun exposure: Photosensitivity reaction may oc-cur. Encourage children to take precautions. |
