Drug-drug.
Allopurinol: Appears to increase the risk of rash from both drugs. Monitorpatient.
Clavulanate potassium: Enhances effect of amox-icillin against certain beta- lactamaseproducing bacteria. Used for this therapeutic effect.
Methotrexate: Large doses of penicillins may in-terfere with renal tubular secretion of methotrex-ate, thus delaying elimination and prolonging elevated serum levels of methotrexate. Monitor patient and laboratory values for toxicity.
Oral contraceptives: Concomitant use may re-duce contraceptive effectiveness. Recommend alternative birth control method.
Probenecid: Blocks renal tubular secretion of amoxicillin, raising its serum levels. Used for ad-junctive antibiotic therapy. |
