Dihydroergotoxine
Adverse Effect: Prolonged vasospastic reactions Clinical Management: Use of sumatriptan within 24 hours of an ergot preparation, such as dihydroergotamine, is contraindicated.
Ergotamine
Adverse Effect: prolonged vasospastic reactions Clinical Management: Concurrent use sumatriptan and ergotamine-containing preparations is contraindicated. At least 24 hours should separate the use of these two drugs.
Fluoxetine
Adverse Effect: An increased risk of weakness, hyperreflexia, and incoordination Clinical Management: Concomitant use is not recommended. However, if concurrent therapy is deemed to be necessary, closely monitor the patient for adverse effects (weakness, hyperreflexia, incoordination).
Selegiline
Adverse Effect: serotonin syndrome (hypertension, hyperthermia, myoclonus, mental status changes) Clinical Management: The concurrent administration of oral sumatriptan and MAO-A inhibitors or use of oral sumatriptan within two weeks of discontinuation of MAO-A inhibitor therapy is contraindicated. The use of sumatriptan injection in patients receiving MAO-A inhibitors is not recommended.
Sertraline
Adverse Effect: An increased risk of weakness, hyperreflexia, and incoordination Clinical Management: Concomitant use is not recommended. However, if concurrent therapy is deemed to be necessary, closely monitor the patient for adverse effects (weakness, hyperreflexia, incoordination). |
