Anticholinergics: May cause para-lytic ileus. Use together cautiously.
Cimetidine. May increase respiratory and CNS depression, causing confusion,disorientation, apnea, or seizures. Use together cautiously.
Drugs extensively metabolized in liver (digitox-in, phenytoin, ritampin): Drug accumulation and enhanced effects may result. Monitor patient closely.
Drugs that induce P-450 enzymes: Increased clearance and decreased effect of codeine. Mon-itor patient closely.
General anesthetics: Severe CV depression may result. Use together cautiously.
Narcotic antagonists: Patients physically depen-dent on drug may experience acute withdrawal syndrome. Use together cautiously.
Other CNS depressants (antihistamines, barbi-turates, benzodiazepines, general anesthetics, MAO inhibitors, muscle relaxants, narcotic anal-gesics, phenothiazines, sedative-hypnotics, tri-cyclic antidepressants): Potentiate drugs respi-ratory and CNS depression, sedation, and hy-potensive effects. Monitor children closely. |
