| ORAL:AMOEBIC LIVER ABSCESS: 2g as a single dose for 3 days.
GIARDIASIS: 2g as a single dose OR 150mg bid for 5-7 days.
AMOEBIASIS:600mg bid for 5-10 days OR 2g single dose for 2-3 days.
ANAEROBIC Rx.:Intial dose of 2g followed by 1g/day for 5-7 days.
SURGICAL Px.:2g given 12 hours prior to start of surgery.
IV ( by slow Infsn.):SURGICAL Px.:1.6g prior to start of surgery.
ANAEROBIC BACTERIAL Rx. WHEN ORAL THERAPY IS NOT POSSIBLE:800mg infused as 400ml solution (2mg/ml) at 10ml/minute. Followed by 800mg daily until Oral Therapy can be given. |
