Interactions:

Dienoestrol

  • Adverse Effect: attenuation of antidepressant effectiveness; tricyclic toxicity (drowsiness, hypotension, akathisia)
  • Clinical Management: If signs or symptoms of altered tricyclic response are noted, dose adjustment downward of either Dienoestrol or Nitroxazapine may be successful in restoring effectiveness or resolving toxicity. However, drug withdrawal may be required.

    Fluphenazine

    Increased risk of postural hypotension

    Mephentermine

  • Adverse Effect: hypertension, other cardiac effects, and CNS stimulation
  • Clinical Management: Generally, avoid concomitant therapy with Nitroxazapine and Mephentermine . If such therapy is unavoidable, the patient should be closely monitored for hypertension and dysrhythmias. Dose adjustment or drug withdrawal may be necessary.

    Nefopam

  • Adverse Effect: Increased risk of seizures
  • Clinical Management: Because of the increased risk of seizures, extreme caution should be exercised in patients receiving nefopam and a Nitroxazapine . An alternative analgesic may be considered.
