Bronchospasm Pts not on theophylline: Loading dose 6 mg/kg IV, then maintenance infusion.
Child 6 month-9 yr: 1.2 mg/kg/h IV × 12 h, then 1 mg/kg/h IV; or 4 mg/kg PO q 4 h × 3 doses, then 4 mg/kg q 6 h.
Child 9-16 yr: 1 mg/kg/h IV × 12 h, then 0.8 mg/kg/h IV; or 3 mg/kg PO q 4 h × 3 doses,then 3 mg/kg q 6 h.
Adult (nonsmoker): 0.7 mg/kg/h IV × 12 h, then 0.5 mg/kg/h IV; or 3 mg/kg PO q 6 h × 2 doses, then 3 mg/kg q 8 h.
Otherwise-healthy adult smoker:1 mg/kg/h IV × 12 h, then 0.8 mg/kg/h IV; or 3 mg/kg/ PO q 4 h × 3 doses, then 3 mg/kg/ q 6 h.
Pts on theophylline: Infusion of 0.63 mg/kg will increase plasma drug level by µgram/ml. If no signs of toxicity, 3.1 mg/kg, then maintenance infusion.
Chronic bronchial asthma Child: 16 mg/kg PO qd divided tid-qid.
Adult: 400 mg PO qd divided tid-qid.
Apnea of prematurity Neonate: 4-5 mg/kg/ IV or PO, then 1.5-2.5 mg/kg IV or PO q 12 h,starting 12 h after loading dose.Apnea of prematurity-Neonate: 4-5 mg/kg IV or PO, then 1.5-2.5 mg/kg IV or PO q 12 h, starting 12 h after loading dose.
Bronchospasm from CF Infant: 10-12 mg/kg IV qd. |
