Aminosalicylic acid, dapsone, methotrexate, nitrofurantoin: Increased serum levels; increased risk of toxicity of these drugs. Monitor child for toxicity.
Bumetanide, ethacrynic acid, furosemide: Im-paired natriuretic effects of these drugs. Adjust dosages as needed.
Cephalosporins, ketamine (possibly), penicillins, sulfonamides, thiopental (possibly), other beta-lactam antibiotics: Significant increased or pro-longed effects of these drugs. Monitor child closely.
Chlorpropamide, other oral sulfonylureas: n-hanced hypoglycemic effects. Adjust dosages as needed.
Diuretics, pyrazinamide: Decrease uric acid lev-els of probenecid. Increased doses Of probenecid may be needed.
Indomethacin, naproxen: Decreased excretion of these drugs. Use lower dosages.
Salicylates: Inhibited uricosuric effect of proben-ecid only in doses that achieve levels of 50 mcgfml or more; occasional use of low-dose aspirin doesnt interfere.
Weak organic acids: Inhibited urinary excretion of these drugs. Monitor child.
Zidovudine:Increased bioavailability of zidovu-dine; cutaneous eruptions accompanied by sys-temicsymptoms (including malaise, myalgia, or fever) possible. Monitor child for toxicity. |
