Cetirizine + Phenylpropanolamine + Paracetamol Comb
Adverse Effect: hypertensive crisis (headache, hyperpyrexia, hypertension) Clinical Management: Avoid concurrent use. If these drugs are used together, monitor blood pressure and ask the patient about frequent headaches or palpitations as these symptoms may be prodromes of a hypertensive crisis.
Propranolol
Adverse Effect: Increased blood pressure Clinical Management: If concurrent therapy is required, monitor blood pressure carefully. A dosage reduction for phenylephrine may be required.
Selegiline
Adverse Effect: severe hypertension, hyperpyrexia, headache Clinical Management: Concurrent use of selegiline and phenylephrine is contraindicated. Allow 14 days to elapse following the discontinuation of a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) before initiating therapy with phenylephrine |
