Antacids Comb. Adverse Effect: Decreased minocycline effectivenessClinical Management: Concurrent administration of minocycline and antacids is not recommended. If concurrent use cannot be avoided, minocycline should be taken at least one to three hours before the antacid dose. Because staggered administration may not be completely reliable, aggressively monitor these patients for continued antibiotic efficacy.
Warfarin Adverse Effect: an increased risk of bleedingClinical Management: In patients receiving oral anticoagulant therapy with warfarin, the prothrombin time ratio or international normalized ratio (INR) should be closely monitored with the addition and withdrawal of treatment with minocycline, and should be reassessed periodically during concurrent therapy. |
