Antacids, cholestyramine resin, cime-tidine, tetracycline, vitamin E: Decreased iron absorption. Separate administration times by 2 to 4 hours.
Chloramphenicol: Delayed response to iron ther-apy. Monitor child closely.
Fluoroquinolones, levodopa, methyldopa, peni-cillamine: Decreased absorption of these drugs, possibly resulting in decreased serum levels or efficacy. Monitor child
Vitamin C: Increased iron absorption. Give to-gether.
Drug-food: Coffee, dairy products, eggs, tea, whole-grain breads and cereals: Decreased iron absorption. Separate use by 2 to 4 hours.
Foods high in vitamin C: Increased iron absorp-tion. Give with these foods. |
