Dosages:
Mania; prevention of depression in pts with bipolar illness
Adolescent, adult: 900 mg (sustained-release tab) PO in morning and hs, or 600 mg (tab or caps) morning, noon, and hs.

Mixed bipolar disorder
Child: 15-60 mg/kg or 0.5-1.5 gram/m2 (carbonate) PO qd in 3 divided doses; range: 150-300 mg qd in divided doses. Dont exceed usual adult dose.

Adult: 1.2-1.8 gram/day. Adjust dose based on pt response and serum lithium levels.
