Interactions:
Anticoagulants: May alter anticoagulant effect. Increase in levothyroxine dosage may need a decrease in anticoagulant dosage. Monitor PT and INR.

Beta blockers: Decreased conversion of levothyroxine to liothyronine. Use with caution.

Cholestyramine: Delayed absorption of levothyroxine. Separate administration times by 4 to 5 hours.

Corticotropin: Concomitant use causes changes in thyroid status. Corticotropin dose may need adjustment.

Estrogens: Decreased free levothyroxines. Watch for decreased effectiveness o1 thyroid hormone.

Hepatic enzyme inducers (such as phenytoin): May increase hepatic degradation of levothyroxine. Increased dosage requirements of levothyroxine may be needed.

Insulin, oral antidiabetics: Altered serum glucose levels. Monitor serum glucose levels; dosage adjustments may be needed.

Sympathomimetics, tricyclic antidepressants: May increase effects of any or all of these drugs; possible coronary insufficiency or arrhythmias. Avoid concomitant use.

Theophylline: Decreased theophylline clearance in hypothyroid children. Monitor serum theophylline levels.
