IM/IV Ifsn.: ACUTE IRON POISONING:Initial dose of 1g followed by 500mg every 4 hours for 2 doses. Subsequent doses 500mg every 4-12 hours, if required. Max. upto 6g/24h.
IV Ifsn. FOR PATIENTS WITH CV COLLAPSE: 15mg/kg/h, Max upto 80mg/kg in 24h.
CHRONIC IRON OVERLOAD: 0.5-1g/day. Additionally 2g IV Ifsn. given seperately with each unit of blood transfused.
IM: DIAGNOSTIC TEST:500mg & measure urinary Iron in the next 6 hours, Excretion of 1mg Iron indicates Iron Storage Disease & more than 1.5mg is Pathological. |
