Probenecid
Adverse Effect: Elevated carbenicillin serum concentrations Clinical Management: The recommended dose of probenecid for this use is 0.5 gm orally taken every six hours during the course of therapy. In children over 2 years of age, the dose is 10 mg/kg every six hours. Either reducing the dose of carbenicillin by one-third to one-half the normal dosage or prolonging the interval between each dose should maintain adequate blood levels when probenecid is used and provide considerable savings to the patient.
