Precautions:
  • Caution should be exercised if the patient is having peptic ulcer, renal insufficiency, hypertension, osteoporosis, or Myasthenia gravis. To avoid drug-induced adrenal insufficiency, supportive dosage has to be given in times of stress conditions like trauma, surgery, or severe illness both during treatment with fludrocortisone acetate and for 1 year afterwards. Enhanced corticosteroid effect is seen in patients with hypothyroidism and cirrhosis. Monitor for euphoria, insomnia, personality changes, and severe depression. Aspirin should be used cautiously in conjunction with corticosteroids in patients with hypoprothrombinemia.
